Main Street Board of Directors
In 2002, a group of volunteers formed a nonprofit organization, the Downtown Development Association of Van Wert. Their purpose was to revitalize and restrengthen the central business district. The organization applied for and was awarded into the Ohio Main Street Program in 2004 and renamed Main Street Van Wert, Inc. The program received National Main Street Accreditation from 2004 - 2009.
Directors of Main Street Van Wert are community members and volunteers who are passionate about what Downtown Van Wert is becoming. Our Board of Directors is made up of small business owners, retired community members, elected City and County government officials, economic and business leaders, and stakeholders in Downtown. They are appointed and elected to serve for 2 year terms working closely as part of committees while organizing and participating in events, promotions, and activities.
