the o.b. McClintock national bank clock:

Historic Main Street Van Wert will lead a community effort in 2023 to restore an iconic piece of local history, the National Bank Clock located on the corner of Main Street and Washington Street.

The O.B. McClintock Clock Company, which manufactured the clock in Van Wert, Ohio, was in business in Minneapolis, Minnesota from approximately 1917 until 1949. The O.B. McClintock Company primarily manufactured large clocks, which were mounted either on a post or with brackets to the side of a building.

McClintock Clocks are very decorative in nature with McClintock using very high-quality building materials such as stained glass for the dials and logo panels and copper cladding for the body of the clock. McClintock made several different styles of clocks including two-faced and four-faced both of which would mount on a posy and from a bracket on the side of a building. All of these clocks were manufactured in a similar method, using steel inside the head as the structural support and then covering that steel with decorative copper work.

OUR GOAL:

Main Street Van Wert is currently working towards our $60,000 goal for the Clock Project. This $60,000 dollar will help restore the clock face, glass and chimes! It will also fund a new concrete slab for the foundation of the clock plus, pay for any maintenance and upkeep of the clock!
